Risk Disclaimer

If anything breaks and you lose money, it is not our fault. SkinBox is a marketplace, not an insurer. You are solely responsible for the items in your Steam inventory, the cash in your SkinBox wallet, and any decision you make on the platform. Before you use SkinBox, you must understand the risks listed on this page.

Price risk

Skin prices can go to zero. A single Facepunch patch can invalidate an entire collection overnight. A new drop can saturate supply and crash the floor. A trading restriction at the Steam level can make an item unsellable. We show price history as a guide — past performance does not predict future results. Never spend more on a skin than you can afford to lose.

Counterparty risk

Every trade on SkinBox is between two Steam users. We facilitate the handoff, but we cannot guarantee the behavior of the person on the other side. Sellers can cancel at the last moment. Buyers can chargeback. Bots can be hacked. Users can be banned by Steam between list and trade. Each of these scenarios is a real-world risk you accept by using the Service.

Technical risk

Software breaks. Networks go down. Databases get corrupted. Third-party APIs have outages. We do our best to keep SkinBox up 24/7 but we do not promise any uptime SLA to end users. Bug-caused losses are not covered unless they fall within the narrow refund cases listed in the Refund Policy.

Regulatory risk

The legal status of in-game item trading is unsettled in many jurisdictions. Regulators have shut down or restricted similar services before, sometimes with no warning. We comply with all applicable law in our operating jurisdiction but cannot guarantee the Service will remain available in yours. If SkinBox is ever forced to shut down, we will attempt to process all pending withdrawals — but we do not guarantee that every user will be made whole.

Custodial risk

Wallet balances on SkinBox are not bank deposits. They are not insured by any government deposit-insurance scheme. They are held by SkinBox's payment processor (Stripe) under Stripe's terms of service, which we do not control. If Stripe freezes the account, your balance may be inaccessible. If Stripe terminates SkinBox, your balance may be delayed in reaching you.

User-error risk

We cannot undo mistakes. If you:

Your acknowledgement

By using SkinBox, you confirm that you have read and understood this disclaimer. You accept every risk listed above, and any similar risk not listed. You waive the right to sue SkinBox for losses caused by any of these risks. If this is not a trade-off you are willing to make, do not use the Service.

For the full legal allocation of risk, see the Terms of Service.
